At CertainTeed, we believe choosing siding and trim for your home is as much about their
impact on the environment as it is about performance and aesthetics. When you consider
the facts, you’ll see CertainTeed Vinyl Siding, Polymer Siding, and Exterior Cellular
PVC Trim are inherently sustainable.
|
Sustainable for a lifetime:
When you compare carbon dioxide (CO2)
emissions produced by common siding
materials throughout their lifecycles - from
the raw material extraction through
manufacturing, distribution, use and post-life-
vinyl siding is a better choice for the
environment.
|
|
|
 |
Energy efficient:
Properly installed vinyl and polymer
siding create an efficient building
envelope that does not conduct heat or
cold. CertainTeed Cedar Boards
siding actually increases the R-value
of the building envelope which
reduces energy consumption and
related CO2 emissions, as well as
contributes to ENERGY STAR
certification.

 |
Low maintenance:
CertainTeed Vinyl Siding, Polymer Siding, and Exterior Cellular
PVC Trim reduce the environmental impact throughout the life
of the home as the need for painting and caulking is eliminated.
Resource efficient:
CertainTeed Vinyl Siding, Polymer Siding, and Exterior
Cellular PVC Trim are typically made using some recycled
products. And some of our products include as much as 80%
post-consumer and industrial recycled content.
|
|
Manufactured responsibly:
Some CertinTeed siding and trim products are made with up to
80% post consumer and industrial recycled content; they require
minimal raw materials, energy and water to produce. All scrap
is reused back into the process, eliminating manufacturing waste
from our plants.
|
 |
|
 |
Lighter to transport:
Because CertainTeed Vinyl Siding, Polymer Siding, and Exterior
Cellular PVC Trim weigh less than many other cladding materials,
they reduce fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions. And CertainTeed
manufacturing facilities are strategically located across the county
to further reduce the environmental costs of transportation.
|
|
Reducing landfill waste:
We’ve developed cradle-to-cradle systems that
reduce landfill waste, save resources and reduce the
overall carbon footprint of our operations and
products.
